Atong JaMGGo Jagnaanon Atong Tumanon – Geemiz 

Election is fast approaching and we cannot hide the fact that Philippine politics is a topnotch dirty event in our country and even small towns in the farthest provinces of the Philippines is highly infected, and vote buying is the virus that eats each voters then rots up until the fruits that their grand children bears. Lucky to us, the people of Jagna that we have one leader who stand to kill this virus.

I came from a pious family and grow up attending to prominent sectarian institutions in high school and college but I don’t consider myself as one devotee, I am just a let’s say okay Roman Catholic who hears mass because it is culture and not because I wanted too but I know most of you do too. I pray the rosary not because of deep faith but because my mama wants me too and do the sign of the cross because I used too and I even do it multiple times because I forgot that I have made the sign of the cross already. I believe that it is faith that could save a man and not religion/culture. As long as I do what I believe is good which is doing things that can’t hurt others and I think is morally correct.

My belief has not change though but from an okay Roman Catholic I am proud to say that I am upgraded to a BETTER Roman Catholic because of this new parish priest in my hometown Msgr. Abet Uy. Don’t get me wrong I also love our previous parish priest Msgr. Orencio Hubac he is one nice, kind, gentle priest and a father like of us all Jagnaanon.

I could not remember the specific detail but all I can recall is that I went home to Jagna for an event and because it’s Sunday it is necessary to hear mass and the usual I went with mama and it was our new parish priest presiding the mass. What I usually do is get sleepy during the homily but that time I was all-attentive in everything he says.

Here is a gist of the homily, which I remember the most:
All of us has a space in heaven whether we are Catholic, Muslim or Born Again Christian. It does not mean that they are Muslims then they will not be saved. It does not mean that one do not go to Church and hear mass then he will not be saved as long as a person do good then he will be saved. But it is a lot better if a person go to church and hear mass because he will be reminded to do good and what is morally correct. It is the Church specially the priest duty to remind the society about this thing. – These are not the usual words a priest would say, touch your nose if you agree with me.

If I could just stand and applaud I would really do it but looking around most oldies are half eyes closed and I doubt if they hear what Fr. Abet have said. From then on I see to myself to hear mass and listen and be reminded about doing good and things like that but sorry to say this but I do not hear what I am expecting to hear in the Church I have been attending here in Cebu. But the great news is that my uncle Bebot Octubre who is an active church goer records every homily of Fr. Abet so even when I’m in Cebu I can still listen to his homily, thank you technology and thank you uncle Bebot.

So what is the relation of Msgr. Abet Uy to the coming 2013 election and the virus that is killing the next generation? The answer to that is he build JaMGGo – Jagna Movement for Good Governance.

What is JaMGGO?
JaMGGo or Jagna Movement for Good Governance aims for a CLEAN and HONEST election in the town of Jagna in the province of Bohol. It ENCOURAGES POLITICIANS TO FIRMLY AVOID VOTE BUYING and DISCOURAGE VOTERS TO SELL THEIR VOTES.

Seminars are given to every parent in the barangays of Jagna on to what the harms of vote buying can bring and the fruits of a clean and honest election.

Elderly and parents are told to think about the future of their children and grandchildren before casting their votes and children are ask to give letters to their parents telling not to buy vote for their future’s sake.

UNSA MAN ANG DAMGO?
1. Ang Jagna maghimo og bag-ong kasaysayan sa piniliay sa lungsod, nga mahimo unyang panig-ingnan sa kabag-ohan sa probinsya sa Bohol ug sa tibuok nasod. Ang maong piniliay limpyo, hapsay, matinud-anon ug malinawon.
2. Ang mga Jagnaanon magpili sa ilang mga pangulo minandoan sa igong kahibalo ug sa maayong konsensya, dili sa kaikog, sa kahadlok, ug sa kwarta.
3. Ang mga Jagnaanon magpili og mga pangulo nga mahadlokon sa Dios, mahigugmaon sa isigkatawo, maalagaron sa mga kabos, maampingon sa kinaiyahan, ug matinumanon sa mga balaod sa Dios.
4. Ang mga kandidato sa lokal nga piniliay sa Jagna mangampanya nga dili mamintaha, dili manghulga, ug dili manghatag og kwarta.
5. Sa pagpangampanya, ang mga kandidato maghisgot sa ilang plataporma ug programa, dili maglinabayay og hugaw o magdinaotay sa usag-usa.

UNSA MAY ATONG BUHATON ARON MATUMAN ANG DAMGO?

Aniay pipila ka mga sugyot. Kon duna moy ikadugang, palihog isulat sa “comment” aron atong hatagan og pagtagad.

1. Kumbinsihon ang mga lokal nga kandidato nga magsugod og bag-ong kasaysayan sa Piniliay sa Jagna. Kon mouyon sila ug magmatarong panahon sa kampanya ug eleksyon, ato silang pasidunggan pinaagi sa pagkulit sa ilang mga pangalan diha sa usa ka landmark sa lungsod. WIN or LOSE, they will be remembered and honored in Jagna History for being courageous and honest.
2. Maghimo kita’g karatola nga may sulat, “KON IMO KAMING PALITON, DILI KA NAMO PILI-ON!” O kaha, “WE ARE NOT STUPID. WE DON’T SELL VOTES!” Ibutang nato kini sa matag balay ug sa matag establisamento sa lungsod sa Jagna.
3. Hangyoon nato ang matag estudyante nga maghimo’g hamubong sulat para sa iyang mga ginikanan ug kaigsoonan. Ang sulat maghangyo nga dili magbaligya og boto alang sa ilang maayong kaugmaon. Ang anak sa us aka kandidato maghangyo sa iyang ginikanan nga dili mamalit og boto para dili mahugawan ang ilang pangalan.
4. Ang mga kapunongan (relihiyoso ug pangpubliko) tahasan sa pag-agni sa ilang ginsakopan nga magmatarong sa pagpili og mga kandidato. Ang mga miembro hatagan og misyon sa paghimo og house to house visit sa ilang Kristohanong katilingban aron pagdasig sa matag pamilya nga moboto subay sa konsyensa.
5. Hangyoon ang Jagna Motor Riders ug Mountain Bikers nga molibot sa tibuok lungsod aron mangampanya para sa limpyo ug matinud-anong piniliay.
6. Maghimo’g dako kaayong PEACEFUL & PRAYERFUL RALLY adto sa Central Grounds. Dasigon ang tanang Jagnaanon nga may maayong kabubut-on sa pag-apil niini. Sa maong tigom, dapiton ang mga kandidato ug pasultihon ang mga modagan sa pagka mayor ug bise-mayor.
7. Dasigon ang mga kabatan-onan (Parish Youth ug Sanguniang Kabataan) sa paghimo’g makahuloganong kampanya sa limpyong piniliay diha sa FB, Radyo ug Telebisyon.
8. Mag-ampo sa Santos nga Rosaryo kada alas 6 sa hapon ipahinungod alang sa limpyo ug malinawong eleksyon.

UNSA MAY POSIBLENG MAHITABO KON MATUMAN ANG DAMGO?
1. Ang mga mapiling pangulo madani sa pagtinarong sa pagpangalagad tungod kay sila gisaligan man sa katawhan.
2. Ang mga mapiling pangulo dili dali matintal sa pagpangawkaw kay sila wala may dakong gasto sa piniliay.
3. Ang katawhan adunay moral nga katungod sa pagsaway sa usa ka piniling pangulo nga dili magtarong tungod kay wala man sila magbaligya sa ilang boto.
4. Kon wala ang pagpangawkaw sa panudlanan sa gobyerno, mas molambo ug mabulahan ang katilingban.
5. Kon masugdan ang piniliay nga walay pinalitay og boto, aduna na unyay mga ligdong nga tawo nga madani sa pagdagan sa sunod piniliay. Sa ingon modaghan ang mga pangulo nga adunay tinuod nga katakos ug moral nga kredibilidad sa pagdumala sa gobyerno.
6. Kon makahimo kita’g piniliay nga limpyo, mapakita nato sa mga kabataan ug kabatan-onan nga ang kultura sa pagpanikas ug korupsyon dili diay maayo ug angay’ng undangon.

– Express disgust to elected officials for every wrongdoing

1. Botar pinasubay sa mando sa konsensya.
2. Respetohi ang hukom sa uban diha sa pagpili sa ilang kandidato.
3. Susiha og maayo ang moral nga integridad, katakos, ug uban pang mga hiyas sa mga kandidato nga imong pili-on.
4. Paninguha sa pagsabot sa mga isyu, plataporma, ug programa sa mga kandidato ug partido nga naninguha sa imong boto.
5. Ayaw ibaligya ang imong boto.
6. Ayaw pagbotar sa mga kandidato nga manghulga, mamalit og boto, ug magsalig lang sa inilang pangalan.
7. Ayaw pagbotar sa mga kandidato nga naila sa pagka-kawatan ug pagka-kurakot.

Ang biente (20) ka mga kandidato nga nanambong mihatag sa ilang dakong suporta para sa katumanan sa damgo sa JaMGGo, nga mao ang malinawon, limpyo ug matinud-anong Piniliay. Gidasig namo ang tanang Jagnaanon nga mosuporta ug motabang usab sa pagkab-ot sa atong mga tinguha.
