I have been blogging like 5 years (3 years in this site). It has been my dream to write things about my hometown, share it to you and let you know that there is more than chocolate hills, Adventure Parks and white beaches in Bohol, that if you just go an extra kilometer particularly southern part, you will discover a lot more. To start with let me introduce to you my home town’s festival, The Sinoog Estokada.

What is Sinoog Estokada?

Sinoog Estokada is a war dance. It depicts the war between Jagnaanon Christians and the invading Muslims from Mindanao. The war ended being Jagnaanon victorious with the help of Jagna’s patron St. Michael the Archangel. The dance is performed with a drum accompaniment and the dancers, all male recite verses. Later on it was changed into a war dance between good and evil with rhythm of a march.

The festivity started with a street dancing from Jagna Business Center to Jagna Oval. I know it was a lively street parade ( I wasn’t there)  with students dancing to various tunes. What make it more beautiful were the different costumes and the St. Michael and Lucifer.

Watching those dancers, doing their thing on stage gives me deja vu. It feels like it was just yesterday when I am a participant for Sinoog Estokada. The celebration was a huge success but there are things I want to point at. It was supposedly included in this post, but due to it’s length I decided to have another article about it and I hope that like this article, you will read it as well.
