It was one lazy Saturday afternoon and I was texting with my cousin Maitha about a summer getaway we are planning for the family. I mentioned her some  tentative dates which are April 27 or 28 2013 but then she refuses for the reason that she has plans for the said date together with an aunt on her dad’s side. I’m a cousin to her mom’s side. They will be watching a Dragon Boat contest somewhere in Tagbilaran and I was like, okay a dragon boat contest in Bohol.

So I instantly asked Google’s help about the said event and indeed there is a Dragon Boat contest but not just an ordinary contest, it will be the 2nd Cobra PDBF (Philippine Dragon Boat Federation) International Club Crew Challenge Bohol Edition 2013 and this will be a huge event and a first in Bohol.

If you have been reading  my blog you will know that I am a proud Boholana, grow up and raise as a Bolanon. I just recently reside in Cebu for studies then now for work. Since I am most of the time in Cebu I joined Cebu Bloggers that’s why most of my post are Cebu related stuff and events. To all Bohol base bloggers you can contact me as well, I would love to meet bloggers na Bolanon. 🙂

Reading about the details I reached Charly’s Blogsite – owned by retired general Charly Holganza a retired army who does not want to stay idle. You can read more about Charly through his blog mentioned a while ago.

Why the event to be held in Bohol where in there are other good beaches in the Philippines? and here is what Charly had to say – “I was – and am – from Bohol.I want to give Bohol something to brag about, to call its own.” Some may call it selfishness for the thought that he heads the organizing committee of the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF) but hell no, you know what I mean if you have tried organizing even a simple event. For the record I organize events like family gathering, school gatherings and birthday, debut parties, yes simple events with big duties, how much more an event like this one.

They should rephrase the question right? to why not Bohol? but let’s stick to that question. If you ask me why Bohol then here is my pang beauty queen answer. Bohol has lot’s to offer. Aside from the beautiful beaches we have the Bolanon qualities that are of topnotch among Filipinos. Bohol is like sleeping beauty, it’s beautiful when asleep and much more beautiful when awake. Maybe you have forgotten that Panglao Bohol (where the PDBF challenge will be held) is among the top tourist destination of the World It is listed in Travel + Leisure’s “Best Secret Beaches on Earth” feature, which is part of the magazine’s March 2012 issue. So what more reasons could you ask for?

About the event

There are around 13 teams and there even had a team from Macau, Our own teams in the Philippines like quite a number from Luzon and three from Bohol. Champion teams like the Army, which won in the Tampa Games in 2011, and Lake Buhi, will be competing as well. The PDBF will be on April 26 – 30 2013 in the shallow strait between mainland Bohol and Dauis in Panglao Island. This is a free event so if you have not planned any activities for this dates this is very perfect, a new summer fun event to look forward to, just dont forget your sunblock and water. The kikayness in me. Good thing I’ll be in Bohol and I so want to watch and crossing my finger for this event. Visit there FB Page to learn more about the event.

I have lots of pending post about my homeland Bohol and expect more Bohol events post from www.geemiz.com. Remeber the date guys and xiao for now.

Aw, this was a very nice post. Taking a few minutes and actual effort to generate a really good article… but what can I say… I put things off a whole lot and don’t seem to get anything done.
