If you go south of Cebu you can enjoy beautiful waterfalls, white sand beaches, and amazing mountain ranges. Moalboal Island hoping that include Pescador Island hopping, snorkeling, and diving. Let me suggest the best resorts in Moalboal and the famous Cebu sardine run or Moalboal sardine run.

About Moalboal

Moalboal Cebu is a peninsula on the south-western tip of Cebu, Philippines. The beautiful town is located 89 km or 55 mi from Cebu City between the towns of Alcantara and Badian. Cebu City to Moalboal travel time is 2 to 3 hours depending on the type of transportation. Moalboal Cebu is popular of its diving sites particularly Pescador Island and also the Moalboal sardine run.

How to go to Moalboal from Cebu City

As mentioned earlier Cebu City to Moalboal travel time is about 2 to 3 hours depending on the type of transportation and Mactan airport to Moalboal 3 to 3.5 hours. The best time o travel to Moalboal is at dawn at 4:00 am.

Cebu City to Moalboal by BUS

  1. Go to Cebu South Bus Terminal

  3. Buy Bus ticket going to Bato via Barili or Badian.

There are so many things to do in Moalboal and most of it relates to the beach and its rich aquatic resources that of course, you should not missed. But did you know that there are other things to do in Moalboal than the sea and the beach.

Moalboal Sardine Run

If you mention Cebu sardine run, then you will always be directed to Moalboal. Located in Panagsama, Brgy. Basdiot, Moalboal Cebu the sardine run is basically swimming together with thousands of sardines in the sea. Fear not if swimming is not your strength for this sardines is just located few meters from shore.  Just rent a snorkeling gear at Cabana Beach Club Resort and the sardine run is just below the resorts Yellow Gazebo or yellow pavilion.

  • The sardine run experience is just a few meters from the shore.
  • Best to experienced Moalboal sardine run in the morning 6:00 am to 8:00 am where there is less tourist and feeding time of big fish. The sardines tend to stay more on the water surface.

Pescador Island

Pescador Island hopping is the go to of most divers when going to Cebu. I already now know why after I have experienced Pescador Island snorkeling how much more when I go Pescador Island diving in which I am looking forward to doing so next time.

  • You can go up the island when the tide is high. Though you will not Spiderman climb to the island, your outrigger boat will go near the cliff and you will climb from there.
  • Climbing the lighthouse is prohibited.
  • Watch out for the jelly fish.
  • Avoid touching the coral reefs.

Turtle Watching

Turtle watching in Moalboal is located in what locals called the Talisay point. The activity is included in most Moalboal island hopping package.

  • Prepare yourself in the water while the guide is looking for the turtles.
  • Be alert when the guide will call you because the turtles swim so fast and are camera shy.

Moalboal Island Hopping

Island hopping in Moalboal includes visiting the Pescador Island, Pescador Island snorkeling, Turtle watching in Talisay point, sardine run, life vest, and snorkeling gears. Moalboal island hopping rate starts from 1,500.00 php (USD 29.17 / EUR 24.81). The rate depends on boat size. No free water during the island hopping so it is best to bring your own food and water.

Swim with Whale Sharks

This is a bonus when you go diving or snorkeling in Moalboal. There are sightings of whale sharks near Cabana Beach Club Resort in Panagsama diving sites. The beauty about this whale sharks is that it is in their natural habitat, unlike other Cebu whale shark diving.

This is for those who love the heights and defy gravity. During our visit at Pescador Island, Children and teens are roaming around the island looking for cliff dive sites and later on we saw them cliff diving from one cliff to the other.

Roam Around Moalboal and nearby towns with a Motorbike

Marina Cucina Italiana International Cuisine

This is Cabana Beach Club Resort’s restaurant and located just beside the resort. You can choose to eat at the restaurant, in the pool and beach area or in the pavilion. The owner of Cucina Italiana is the same with that of La Tegola in Cebu City. For breakfast, they have 99.00 php (USD 1.93 / EUR 1.64) Continental Breakfast or Filipino Breakfast. I saw a video on sardine runs in Africa, looks like a really great thing to observe. And so many cute looking cafes there in Moalboal!

The sardine run is amazing. First time to be really that close to a school of fish in the ocean. Cute cafes with great coffee and food.
